RJ Kern, the lighting master, hosted his 2nd lighting workshop last night in Lakewood. Shannon of Center Avenue Imaging was also there and we had a great time doing some crazy stuff with Nikon Speedlights and gel filters. We kind of went to the extreme with using red and blue gels for a portrait session, but we got some really funky results. Later on RJ and I went to have a creative brainstorm session on top of a parking garage, and had great results. We had the possibility of using I think almost 5 or 6 speedlights, but kept it simple with 3 and went to town on my Xterra. Then we did a few portraits as well. The next meet up is on March 26th at the REI Starbucks downtown. Check out RJ's blog for more info. www.kern-photo.com

Great Book!!!! I love Photojournalism, and Joe McNally is one of my favorites!!! I pre-ordered his book last month and finally got it today!! Its not only an educational book, but also a great coffee table book with some incredible images. Though I do have my wedding photographer idols, I really try to look to people like Joe who photograph Nat Geo type material for inspiration.
I was just sitting here doing some photoshop work and figured I would post a quick iPhone pic of my workstation. Basically on the left is a 12" iBook G4, in the middle a 15" MacBook Pro, and on the right a 19" monitor. Soon when my studio is done I am hoping to get a 30" Cinema Display to help keep a more clean look....
