I was invited to help the talented Julie Harris with a wedding at the coolest venue ever. It was held at the Phipps Mansion in the Cherry Creek area down near Denver. It was an unbelievable old castle of a home, which is a National Historic Landmark. Anyway, more importantly I had a equipment problem!!! I have all new gear, take the best care of it, and of course it failed me. My favorite lens, the 70-200 F2.8 has some sort of focusing issue and about 70% of the photos I took came out blurry. I am so mad!!! Anyway, now I am getting the run around from Nikon on getting it repaired. Maybe this is why so many Pro's go with Canon???? I am very tempted to make the switch!!! I had my old used Canon D30 for 6 years and never had a problem. Oh yeah, most of the wedding was outside, it was beautiful, and when I woke up the next morning it was SNOWING!!!! So weird. This never happened in Florida....
I was bored so I drove up to RNP to see some of the leaves changing. I also came across a herd (I guess they are called a herd?) of elk, which included a loud male elk showing off his bugle. I can see a need for a 400mm or 500mm lense with some of this nature stuff. I don't mind photographing nature or animals, but landscapes are so bloody boring.... Unless you have some great lighting, or fog, or anything to give the picture a little extra punch, Yuk. I managed to get a few good shots, but it was in the middle of the day, so everything is just kind of plain.....
I had a great time meeting up with the folks at OSP as well as friends I met at the last F-Stop workshop for a Trash The Dress party downtown. Thanks to Andrew Schafer for organizing the entire thing, as well as the many others, and espicially the models.... You may recognize Kat, from the F-Stop shoot, she was one of the models that helped us out. I'm not real into the whole "Glamour" side of photography, but it sure does make it easy to take the photos.
Garrett and Sharon are Married!!
Garrett and Sharon had a beautiful Boulder wedding on Friday at the famous Chautauqua Park. I had never met Garrett until the rehersal dinner the night before, they make such a cute couple. Hope you enjoy the show....
