The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and filled with emotion and a even a couple tears. Later on, the party really got started at Il Fornaio, a great little Italian restaurant where I think both Dawn and Mike at one time worked together. In Chinese tradition, games are often incorporated into the reception, so thats exactly what happened. One of the highlights was when Dawn had to wear oven mitts, and walk down a line of men in the reception, and feel their "rear end" and try to identify Mike. She actually did it! In Mike's case, he got to sit in a chair, and allow about 15 different men and women kiss his cheek and try to identify Dawn. He also nailed it right in the head. I think that is a sign of all the good things yet to come for this great couple. Thank you so much for allowing me to be there. The Big Event is Here!!!! Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to obtain access to the DNC here in Denver, and boy did I love it!!! My favorite type of Photography is documentary photojournalism. Basically a photo that tells a story but in a very simple way. A lot like National Geographic does when it documents people and their life. Rather it be a famous person, or even just a local farmer that is facing issues that are troubling is industry. One of my favorite places to view photography is, believe it or not, The Rocky Mountain News. I love the day in pictures, as well as the multimedia features. I think it is great to see real life going on around you, even in your community via pictures. Though I did have some restrictions on what I can share and the equipment I could have in the actual convention, I did the best I could. I'll try to post a photo a day for the next week or so and hopefully it could be a start for a more short term goal I have of creating a photojournalism portfolio. These are raw pictures with no fancy wedding type of editing, so they may be a little different than my usual stuff...... I hope you enjoy..... I met Tom and Alexa a while ago to discuss their wedding, and I could tell right away that they were an awesome couple and I totally fell in love with them. They got married up in Estes Park which brought back so many memories of my own wedding that was 2 years prior on the same weekend. Just for a little info on the first picture, it really is a rubber pickle!! My good buddy RJ Kern was my inspiration for this shot. RJ is super creative when it comes to the little detail shots, especially the ring shots. I usually never do a ring shot, but this was just too perfect.... Hopefully sometime soon I'll post more pics from my recent trip, but for now, here is a quick look at Cabo. I took this with my super cool Olympus 850SW. It is a point and shoot, which as a photographer you feel really constrained, but sometimes it can be fun. The coolest part is that it is waterproof up to 10 feet!! It is the perfect camera for outdoor vacations. I was bobbing up and down on a waverunner dripping wet when I took this. I even took it in the pool for some underwater pictures. Its a fun toy, even if it is an Olympus. I also took my Nikon 6006 and took some film pictures including a roll of Illford 3200ISO film which I can't wait to get developed. I'm Back!!!! Well first off, I followed no rules on this post. Which I might start doing more often. Usually I post pictures that tell a story, and try to have one from each major event in the wedding in order. However, this one is all over the place, just because my favorites are so random. First off, every wedding has its drama. But this one is one to remember. Which is what makes it so good. The day started by Mike getting stung in the forehead 4 times by Hornets that were hiding out near the room where he was getting ready. The poor guy nearly passed out and spent about an hour and a half in bed with a pack of ice on his head. He never did fully recover, but the thought of marring Erin kept him going. Then, just before everyone was getting ready to walk down the isle, somebody realized that "Harley", Mike and Erin's dog, no longer had Erin's wedding ring tied around his neck. Thats right, Missing Ring!!! The entire 100 guests were out in the grass on their hands and knees franticly searching for it. It didn't turn up to well into the reception when a young guy found it while looking with the search party complete with metal detectors. But the best part was, Erin and Mike put it in the back of their minds as they had one of the most emotional ceremony's I have ever witnessed. Their love for each other is so REAL!!!!! Anyhow, I skipped posting the bee sting and diamond rescue mission pics, but as you can see, the day was amazing. Even though Mike wore sunglasses well into the night to cover his crazy reaction to the stings. Thank you so much you two for allowing me to be there, I will always remember it......
